Earth Day 2015: “It’s Our Turn To Lead”
Celebrated on April 22, Earth Day encourages support for environmental programs, rekindles public commitment, and builds community activism around the world through a broad range of events and activities. This year’s Earth Day theme is “It’s Our Turn to Lead,” which encourages citizens to stand together to show world leaders a new direction for energy solutions and sustainability.
Did You Know?
• Earth Day is the largest civic event in the world
• Over a billion people of all backgrounds, faiths, and nationalities celebrate Earth Day simultaneously around the globe
In honor and recognition of Earth Day, Cartus will once again host our annual Earth Day Fair here in our Danbury headquarters on April 29. This annual celebration is one of our largest and most popular events, and this year we will welcome approximately 24 vendors to display their educational environmental initiatives—and, as always, some will be selling eco-friendly items and hosting giveaways.
Cartus is committed to being a responsible steward of the environment—not just on Earth Day, but every day. We continually look for ways to limit and reduce the harmful impact we may have on the environment as a whole, reduce our carbon footprint, and educate our employees on conservation activities. Cartus is proud to announce that we recently received a 2015 EcoLeadership Award from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE). We were one of only 25 companies across the United States to receive this award.
Citizenship, both at a local and global level, is integral to the Cartus culture. To find out more about Cartus’ environmental and other social responsibility initiatives, visit our Global Citizenship Page on Cartus.com. Also, be on the lookout for our new Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility Policy, to be released soon. We hope that Cartus’ continuing commitment to environmental responsibility would make Earth Day founder, Gaylord Nelson, proud!
