Why Repatriation is the Key to ROI for Global Assignments

The final phase in international assignments, repatriation is often neglected by mobility managers—a critical misstep, as repatriation is truly the key to ROI for global assignments. Many managers, even with the best of intentions, may tend to underestimate the effects, both on a personal and business level, of the repatriation phase on assignees and families. Despite understanding the importance of employee retention and the knowledge gained on assignment, many companies do not have formal processes in place to help gain assignment ROI. Why is this, and what can be done?
