2017 Cartus Scholarship Award Winners

For many students, scholarships are crucial for bridging the gap between the rising costs of tuition and what their families can afford. Cartus values the dedication of our employees, and to help them support their children on the path to a college education, we present three scholarships annually. We see our scholarship awards as more than just financial support, but as an investment in these scholars as future leaders.

We are proud to introduce you to three exceptional individuals—this year’s deserving recipients of Cartus’ 2017 scholarship awards. In addition to academic success, they’ve all exemplified leadership and a dedication to community service.

  • Emma Johnson of Sandy Hook, Connecticut, was awarded $2,000, which she will apply to tuition at Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University, where she plans to study biochemistry. Emma’s hope after graduation is to conduct research and create new medicines that will benefit people worldwide.
  • Akil Purdy of Memphis, Tennessee, was awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Akil, who will attend the University of Memphis this fall, hopes to become a defense attorney.
  • Christopher Joyce of Bethel, Connecticut, is the recipient of our second scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Christopher is headed for High Point University in High Point, North Carolina, and also hopes to become an attorney.

All three students have displayed multiple talents and interests, but also a passion for, and dedication to, learning and community service. We have no doubt that they’ll do great things in the future, and are proud to support them as they take the next steps in their educational and professional careers. Congratulations, scholars!
