Industry Profiles: An Inside View
How do specific industry sectors approach management of their global mobility programs and policies? Cartus Industry Profiles present snapshots of the various ways in which individual industries approach key issues related to the handling of their relocation programs, based on data compiled for the Cartus 2014 Global Mobility Policy & Practices survey.
This profile provides a summary of responses from individuals in the Service/Media industry and compares them with overall survey responses. In this recent video, Pam Ross, of Cartus Consulting Solutions, discusses some of the sector’s specific challenges and how HR practitioners in the sector are responding.
Service/Media Sector Increasing Mobility Activity
When asked whether mobility activity will increase over the next few years, Service/Media companies’ responses were slightly higher than that of the overall market, with the shortage of available local talent one of the top two reasons cited for increased mobility activity over the past two years.
Top Challenges: Cost is Not Alone
The top global mobility challenge (percentage rated 4 or 5 on a 5-point scale) cited by Service/Media industry companies was cost control, but this was not the only high-rating concern; the sector also mentioned an increasing need for flexibility. Both of these challenges are being met through a variety of means, one being their use of specific policy approaches such as tiering.
